This listing is for a pair of individually, handcrafted, solid sterling silver, science fiction inspired stitch markers.
We all have our favourite TV shows. Mine are Doctor Who and Star Trek.
I have lots of Star Trek homage jewellery, but I removed it all from Etsy whilst I'm waiting for clarification from Paramount (you can still find it on my website) but I do have these sterling silver closed stitchmarkers.
I made a set for me, with my favourite Trekkie words - Live, Long [and] Prosper; Hit It; Engage and Qapla' and I can make a set for you - select how many you want in your set, tell me the words you want and the needles you'll use most often. These are shown on KnitPro Symfonie 5mm interchangeable needles, that I'm using with glorious BFL Aran, hand painted by www.KosyKitchenFibres.com
I use the offcuts from my HookerRings, so each length of sterling silver is 4mm by 25mm, hand punched with 2.5mm high text. I then drill the holes, and add jump-rings, also made using recycled sterling. The larger ring that slips over your needle is soldered closed, and the whole piece is carefully filed and sanded by hand and then tumbled for an hour or so, before I again double check them to be sure they are totally snag free
I can stamp any word you like up to 6 letters to fit on this size (as you can see from 'Prosper' 7 letters is a fraction too long to fit into the standard 2.5cm length)
Order individual markers or a set, and mix and match the sizes for your needles as you like. They'll come in a small aluminium screw top tin with an anti-tarnish tab.
More sci-fi phrases that would work as a pair might include: Make It So, Set Phaser [to] Stun, Beam Me Up; (Trek) Indeed (StarGate), Bad Wolf, Sonic, Timey Wimey (Who)
Of course, you might be shopping for someone who loves gin, or has a particular word they mutter, or you might like to have prompts such as SSK, or to buy regular affirmation ones - see my other listing for those.
Please note that each will be slightly different, as I make them individually, and they aren't hallmarked as they are so lightweight
All my silver is now bought as certified recycled eco-silver, made from 100% scrap / recycled silver which has been fully refined to ensure it is of the same quality as traditional sterling, but of course without the environmental impact of mining it.

Sterling Silver will eventually oxidise or tarnish. It's a natural process that can be slowed down by regular wear and by keeping unworn items away from the atmosphere. If you leave your jewellery out on display, this oxidisation will be faster. You can polish up your items, with a soft cloth, some silver polish, or a buffing cloth such as Town Talk, which is readily available from any high street jewellers in the UK
Fine silver is 99.9% silver, and because of this the tarnish rate is much, much slower. Again, a buff should do the job for polishing it back up. If I have patinated your silver already, be gentle when buffing!
Each piece should stand up to regular wear, but , as with all jewellery, please remove it before washing, using chemicals or applying perfume etc
Apply body lotion and perfume a few minutes before putting on your jewellery to help slow down tarnish
The sterling silver used in these items was sold to me by my bullion dealer ass certified recycled.
he gemstones I use have been sold to me by reputable dealers as untreated (unless stated specifically in the listing). They are a natural, organic creation from the earth and each one will be slightly different. You can see examples of this on my Facebook page.
I select the stones that I think go together best for each project, hence my comments that each item is individual.
